SIRS is working diligently to build a volunteer network. Volunteering builds up the community and the world we live in and fills it with hope for a brighter tomorrow. Our new volunteer network will be called Volunteers of Hope in honor of the contribution volunteers make to society – day in and day out. Without volunteers, many organizations would simply cease to exist.
Following are some volunteer opportunities available at SIRS. We are also always open to suggestions.
Summer Fest 5K Walk, Run, and Roll Committee
This group of volunteers helps plan and coordinate our annual 5k. The 5k is held in conjunction with the 4th of July Picnic organized by the Tell City Moose Lodge. Volunteers are also needed for the day of the event.
SIRS Dream Team
The SIRS Dream Team is a group of volunteers that pull together available community resources to fulfill the dreams of people with disabilities, served by Southern Indiana Resource Solutions (SIRS), in Warrick and Vanderburgh area. This group is providing the gap which is being created by state and federal funding cuts.
Volunteers are needed at each and every location to help with a variety of tasks, like planting and maintaining the landscaping, cleaning and performing small maintenance tasks. Some locations need updates and improvements and skills like painting and trim work are in demand. Office help is also needed. Examples include covering the phone during lunches or meetings, filing, copying, collating, organizing, preparing mailings or packets of information for shows, customers, etc.
