Volunteer Oppurtunity

SIRS is working diligently to build a volunteer network. Volunteering builds up the community and the world we live in and fills it with hope for a brighter tomorrow. Our new volunteer network will be called Volunteers of Hope in honor of the contribution volunteers make to society – day in and day out. Without volunteers, many organizations would simply cease to exist.

Following are some volunteer opportunities available at SIRS. We are also always open to suggestions.

Golf Scramble Committee

This group of volunteers helps plan and coordinate our annual golf scramble. The golf scramble is currently one of our largest fund-raising events. The Golf Scramble is generally held in the summer.

Volunteer at our Day Care in Tell City

Many volunteer opportunities are available at our day care from assisting in the rooms with children and to reading to children. You can spend an hour or two a week or a day. You are always welcome.

We can also use your assistance in the kitchen as well as helping with office tasks like shredding paper. Other volunteer activities include building and grounds maintenance like planting flowers and caring for our flower beds and shrubs. Volunteers help keep the playground area nice and safe with activities like raking the woodchips. Cleaning help is needed to assist with cleaning tasks not performed routinely every week like wiping down the baseboards and walls and spring cleaning, etc.

General

Volunteers are needed at each and every location to help with a variety of tasks, like planting and maintaining the landscaping, cleaning and performing small maintenance tasks. Some locations need updates and improvements and skills like painting and trim work are in demand. Office help is also needed. Examples include covering the phone during lunches or meetings, filing, copying, collating, organizing, preparing mailings or packets of information for shows, customers, etc.

Marketing Committee

The marketing committee serves in an advisory capacity to SIRS and its executive director regarding the marketing of SIRS’ programs and services. SIRS relies on the expertise of these volunteers to ensure success in its marketing and promotion efforts.

Education and Advocacy Committee

The Education and Advocacy committee is comprised of community members represented by at least one member from each county we serve. Members are also friends and family members of the children and adults we currently serve or have served. Membership is encouraged from each school district. This group serves to promote Disability Awareness and Advocacy in the schools as well as in the local community. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate.
