PAT GLENN OF TROY HONORED BY SIRS In addition to being recognized for her strength, resourcefulness, success and inclusionary spirit, Glenn could be called “cautiously optimistic”. Through the many years she has been employed at SIRS she has witnessed a multitude of changes as not only SIRS changed but as society changed in how persons with disabilities are viewed and how services are provided for persons with disabilities. Glenn remarked upon receiving the award, “I have always believed in this organization and what we are doing to support persons with disabilities. I always try to keep an open-mind. When I saw a therapist carry in a toddler-age child who had not yet learned to walk or talk into our Day Care, my heart just went out. Six months later, when that same child followed his parent out the door, walking on his own two feet, and this child stopped at the door and turned back around to face me and said “bye”, my heart leapt with joy. I thought to myself, ‘This is what we do, we really change lives.’” Pat Glenn does indeed change lives -- day by day, year after year. She supports SIRS not only by her dedication to her job each day and the above and beyond she brings to that job but by being an active SIRS volunteer. She is the first to volunteer to serve on committees to help raise funds, plan Christmas parties, or whatever the need. She is the first to buy cookie dough, find silent auction items, and give to the annual appeal. She has consistently been a volunteer for a multitude of projects and events over the last several years. Glenn does it because she sees what a difference an organization like SIRS can make in the lives of adults and children with disabilities. Kelly Mitchell, CEO, stated “Pat’s caring, giving personality radiates and fills the room. When we are talking about our needs or about what needs to be done, you will often hear Pat saying, “Let me see what I can do.” She’s reliable, dependable. You can count on her.” Glenn started out as a payroll production clerk at SIRS Industries in Troy. Soon she moved into the position of office manager. In 1995, Glenn moved to Tell City as the office manager of the newly opened Bright Beginnings Day Care, a state licensed child care facility for children with and without disabilities. Glenn currently splits her time at the Day Care in Tell City and as accounting assistant at the Boonville office taking care of billing. SIRS is pleased and honored to recognize the dedication of Pat Glenn with the SIRS Award. Pat and her husband Greg are the parents of Brittney, Brandi, and Brett and the grandparents of Kelby. They make their home in Troy, Indiana. SIRS’ mission continues to be “to partner in our communities to enrich the quality of life of persons with disabilities. We advocate , plan, support, and model full inclusion and self-determination.” SIRS, has been providing services to adults and children with disabilities since 1968.
