SIRS is proud to be celebrating 40 years of service
The year 2008 marks the 40th Anniversary of SIRS and to celebrate SIRS is hosting a variety of events in its service area in conjunction with area Chambers of Commerce. At these events, area businesses and individuals have the opportunity to learn more about SIRS’ history as well as what they are currently doing, and their hopes for the future. Community members have the opportunity to learn first hand about the impact SIRS has had on the communities it serves. They also have the opportunity to meet with SIRS staff one-on-one.
For example, on March 27th, a Chamber breakfast was held in Perry County at Bill ‘n Dave’s Smokin’ Pit. About 40 people attended the event. Kelly Mitchell, welcomed participants and reminded them that 40 years ago, SIRS started humbly on Main Street in Tell City. Jennifer Perkins spoke about Bright Beginnings Day Care, which is located in Tell City. Charlie Baumeister spoke about Jobs + and Carolyn Braun spoke about the people we serve and through specific examples, shared what life is like for these individuals. Patty Oser shared information about Link-n-Go. After the presentations, a sincere thank you was extended to each person attending and to the communities we serve. Without community support, SIRS would not be successful in their mission.
The Spencer County Chamber event was held April 17th at the Honey Creek Farm. In Dubois County, SIRS hosted a Time-Out for Business on August 17th. In Warrick County, SIRS will host a Lunch and Learn, on Thursday September 25th at the Rolling Hills Country Club.
