Marla Hendrickson Joins SIRS Board of Directors
Hendrickson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Indiana University and her Master’s degree from Indiana State University. She has been employed as a Special Education Resource Teacher at Boonville High School for 21 years. Hendrickson hopes to incorporate her experience as a high school educator to help improve transition programming for students from high school to the adult world. She would like to see individuals with disabilities become as independent as possible and be a contributing force in their communities. Hendrickson is also a member of the Warrick County Teachers Association, the Indiana State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Boonville Baseball Boosters, Tri-Kappa, Kiwanis and has been a member of the Indiana Protection and Advocacy Services. Hendrickson remarked, “I wanted to be part of the dynamic group that facilitates the inclusion of those with disabilities into the community. SIRS provides tremendous community resources for these deserving individuals.” SIRS has been serving persons with disabilities since 1968. This year marks their 40th anniversary.
