DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING

Seven to nine months

♥   If your child is seven months old, please answer the following questions with a yes or no response:

  1. Can your baby pick up tiny objects, such as raisins or pieces of food with either his whole hand using a raking or grabbing motion or with his thumb and fingers?
  2. Can your baby sit steadily for about five minutes
  3. Can your baby move a toy from one hand to the other without assistance?
  4. Is your baby shy at first with strangers?
  5. Can your baby creep or crawl forward on tummy by pulling body along with arms and leg kicks?
  6. Does your baby respond to other people’s emotions, smiling or laughing when he sees someone smile or becoming sad if someone is sad.
  7.  Does your baby make sounds that have both consonants and vowel sounds such as “ da”, “ma”, “ ga”, or “ ba”?
  8. Does your baby pat and smile at herself in the mirror?
  9. Does your baby play peek-a-boo or pat-a-cake?

♥   If your child is eight months old, please answer the following questions with a yes or no response:

  1. Can your baby grasp items with his thumb and first two fingers?
  2. Can your baby shake her head “no-no”?
  3. Does your baby eat solid foods like baby food, mashed potatoes, or macaroni and cheese?
  4. Can your baby get up on their hands and knees and rock back and forth or are they beginning to crawl?
  5. Does your baby explore objects in many different ways, like dropping, shaking, banging, or throwing?  
  6. Does your baby repeat the same sound several times in a row like “ dadadadadada” or “ mamamamama?”
  7. Is your baby growing and gaining weight?
  8. When your baby is playing alone, does he jabber as though he is really talking (this jabbering does not have to be understandable.)?

♥   If your child is nine months old, please answer the following questions with a yes or no response:

  1. Can your baby combine syllables like “ da-da”, “ ba-ba”, or “ma-ma”?
  2. When in a crib, can your baby pull themselves up to a standing position without help?
  3. Does your baby respond to his own name?
  4. Can your child hit two objects together?
  5. When crawling or lying down, can your baby get into a sitting position without help?
  6. Does your baby imitate the sounds you make like “meow” or “kissing sounds”?
  7. Can your baby stand for a short-time while holding onto a support?
  8. Is your baby growing and gaining weight?
  9. Does you baby wave bye-bye?
  10. Can your baby pick up small objects
