2002SIRS Industries begins its transition to inclusive community-based employer with the Ferdinand plant.

2003—John Ward retired from his role as CEO after 27 years at the helm. He plans to continue services for approximately one year in order to start an endowment for SIRS ensuring services will be available for years to come. Kelly Mitchell, former Director of Human Resources at SIRS was named his successor. She assumed the office of CEO on April 11, 2003.

SIRS Industries signed a contract for the Black River Welcome Center site in July 2003 adding another contract to its already successful operations at their Nancy Hanks Rest Area also on I-64.

2004—SIRS kicks off its endowment.   The Development Department introduces the Reed Society for individuals, corporations, or organizations who contribute to the future success of  SIRS.

SIRS industries completes the transition to community-based employer by discontinuing sheltered work services at the Boonville and Troy plants.   SIRS Industries operates and financially sustains the SIRS mission based work as a true community employer, employing persons with and without disabilities in an inclusive environment.

SIRS expands community living support services through Home Of My Own.

2005—SIRS Industries at Boonville begins expanding its operations to include plastic recycling. The Troy facility adds a kiln to include heat-treated pallets as part of their product offerings.

Wanda Carpenter, a recipient of Home Of My Own services, was recognized by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman for her successful transition from a state run institution to independent life in her own apartment in Perry County.

2006 - SIRS in partnership with EARC and GARC received an Alcoa Foundation grant for their E-learning project.  The project was commended for it collaborative effort to share resources and reduce overhead cost of staff training.

SIRS launches Pediatric Rehabilitation Services, a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation program that provides diagnostic, evaluative treatment and referral services for children who experience difficulty with the normal developmental process, are injured, or have identified disabilities.

Barb Goffinet, Community Resource Specialist receives the Professional Award at Indiana’s Association for Persons in Supported Employment (INAPSE).

2007-Patty Oser, Vice-President of Community Services for Southern Indiana Resource Solutions, Inc. (SIRS) received the President’s Award at Indiana’s Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, Inc. (INARF)

Link-N-Go Tranisit added to SIRS community services.  Transportation for medical, work-related, and other personal needs available to Dubois, Perry, and Warrick residents.

2008-SIRS partners with Ride Solution to launch rural public transportation services in Dubois and Warrick Counties.

SIRS receives its 5th consecutive 3-year CARF accreditation, the highest  possible, since 1996.

Barb Goffinet, Community Resource Specialist recognized nationally with the Professional Award at the 18th Annual National APSE Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

SIRS Industries Ferdinand and Warrick facilities recognized by the Indiana Department of Labor as achieving the prestigious Indiana Safety and Health Achievement (INSHARP) status.

SIRS  celebrates its 40th Anniversary.
