Mrs. Marla Hendrickson, Board Member
Representing Warrick County
Ms. Hendrickson hopes to use her 21 years experience as a Special Education Resource Teacher at Boonville High School to “help improve the transition programming for students from high school to the adult world so that they can become as independent as possible and at the same time contribute to their community.”
As a high school teacher, she sees the importance of assisting graduates in identifying and achieving their personal goals. It is her expectation that the Board and the SIRS organization continue being creative advocates for those with disabilities by providing strong community services including job opportunities and improving access for leisure activities. She is excited to have this opportunity. Ms. Hendrickson stated upon accepting her new role, “I want to be part of the dynamic group that facilitates the inclusion of those with disabilities into the community.”
Ms. Hendrickson is also a member of the Warrick County Teachers Association, the Indiana State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Boonville Baseball Boosters, Tri-Kappa, Kiwanis and has been a member of the Indiana Protection and Advocacy Services. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Indiana University and her Master’s degree from Indiana State University.
